Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia: To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting; Know ye, that in conformity with a survey made in the third day of December 1819 by virtue of a Land Office Treasury warrants numbers 5214, issued the 24th October 1814, There is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto Matthew Kincaid & James Kincaid, A certain tract or parcel of Land, Containing Seventy three acres, the greater part Situate in the County of Nicholas & the Other part in Kenhawa and bounded as followeth to wit
Beginning at a Holly, ironwood and red oak on the South East bank of Gauley river about forty eight poles above the mouth of the sand lick a corner of 100 acres made for John Kincaid, Thence South twenty seven degrees West forty eight poles down the river to a spruce pine on the rocks and Birches at the forks of Gauley and New rivers near both, South forty five degrees East forty poles to Elms gums and Red Oak about six poles from New river South seventy three degrees East forty poles to two Lynns at the mouth of a hollow South fifty one degrees East eighty six poles to a birch poplar and sourwood saplings South fifty eight degrees East forty six poles to a wood oak and Chestnut Oak South Twenty three degrees East forty two poles to a hickory, South fifty degrees East forty poles to a red Oak and Bunch of Beeches South thirty seven degrees East eighteen poles to the upper side of a large rock in the edge of New river about seven poles below the mouth of the mud branch South Sixty One degrees West Six poles to Corner of said Rocks, North fifty six degrees West three hundred and forty six poles down the river to two holly trees and two beeches on the bank of Kenhawa river opposite to an Island, North twenty five degrees East twenty poles Crossing the road to two beeches and a dead ash near a large rock, North sixty degrees East fifty three poles to a maple and Chestnut, North seventy four degrees East forty poles Crossing gauley river below and near the mouth of rock camp to the Beginning;
To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of Land with its appurtenances to the said Matthew Kincaid & James Kincaid and their heirs forever. In witness whereof the said Thomas M Randolph Esqr. Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath here unto set his hand, and caused the Lesser seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the twentieth day of December in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty and of the Commonwealth the forty fifth.
